Autonomous Mobile Robots

Solution Net Systems Autonomous Mobile Robots offers benefits for any industry to increase its flexibility and robustness of their sorting and fulfilment operations.

A STEP TOWARDS INCREASING THE FLEXIBILITY AND ROBUSTNESS OF YOUR SORTING AND FULFILMENT OPERATIONS

Prime Vision has developed the Autonomous Mobile Robots concept which entails sorting parcels using mobile robots.
In general, sorting machines tend to be static and lack flexibility to easily adapt to changing circumstances. It can
help create a flexible and future proof sorting or fulfilment center. Instead of fixed infrastructure, sorting and fulfilment centers of
the future will make use of intelligent robots to sort parcels. Simply, all that is required is an empty work floor and a few days for
the robots to ‘learn’ it for navigation.

OPEN AND FLEXIBLE

A founding principle of the Autonomous Mobile Robots solution is that it should be low cost to start-up and operate compared to traditional
“heavy metal” sorters in terms of sorting speed and parcel throughput. This means that there will be no barriers to adoption by
companies seeking to integrate a more scalable and flexible sorting strategy. Significant lower capital investments are required
compared to traditional sorters, and the solution can be quickly implemented at any location

Flexibility also means adopting a design approach that guarantees open development and interoperability, especially independence between hardware and software. There are also many hybrid opportunities that utilize traditional sorting technology investments in combination with the new techniques.

HOW IT WORKS

This is how the system works. An operator scans the parcel and then manually places it onto a small conveyor that sits atop of the robot. At the same moment, the robot determines that it has a parcel and based on the barcode information, a destination within the warehouse is determined. This exit will be matched to the robot, which then calculates how to best find the destination and starts to roll. Once the robot has navigated the route and successfully arrived at its destination, it can either roll the parcel into a chute or wait for an operator to manually remove the package. To extend the autonomous process a step further, a robotic arm that operates in synchronization with the robots is in development.

RAPID AND ACCURATE

Compared with traditional solutions, Robotic Sorting is an attractive alternative for manual operations.
The autonomous robots can rapidly and accurately perform the sorting at a lower cost per sorted unit than the current industry standard. The table below shows what is the most efficient combination of robots and amount of parcels per hour
